Many companies have a mission statement. Intelligent Investing has a passion statement.
Minimize financial stress to maximize your life.
Minimize Financial Stress
The source of stress
Stress is the human body’s natural response to any change in the environment that requires an action, reaction or adjustment to what’s normal. Around 75% of individuals undergo stress in a 2-week period, and the working population is particularly subject to emotional, physical, and mental stress. In most countries, money is the major cause for stress.
Too many choices
Stress is heightened when there are multiple options. We are inundated with options for just about everything in our lives. For example, Amazon sells more than 12,600 types of toothbrushes. We often think, the more options, the better. However, in reality, too many choices exhaust us, make us unhappy, and lead us to “analysis paralysis” where we end up not making any decision. As the number of options increase, the costs, in time and effort, also increase. This choice overload gives us decision fatigue, and we tend to conserve our energy by making choices based on a single factor–such as price. We ignore all other determinants.
Intelligent Investing minimizes your financial stress.
We listen to your situation and then ask questions to clarify and hone our understanding of your situation. Next, we perform the due diligence necessary to sort through your financial options (i.e., portfolio management, retirement planning, insurance planning, estate planning, tax planning, etc…) and create recommended solutions and a path to move towards.
Fiduciaries
We are held to a “fiduciary standard” by law, so you can be assured there will be no conflicts of interest and will experience complete transparency.
Fee-only
We are “fee-only” financial planners. Unlike many broker/dealers, we are a Registered Investment Advisor (or RIA), and therefore, we do not accept any fees or compensation based on product sales. For example, we will never sell you an insurance policy, annuity contract, or any other product.
Independent
We are independent, which means we don’t have “the powers that be” dictating which products we should be pushing, or which investment recommendations would help the family headquarters. We do not get paid by any third parties for our recommendations. This transparency and avoidance of conflicts of interest should decrease your financial stress.
Maximize Your Life
Each of us has been given 1,440 minutes every day, and how we utilize them is important. According to a recent Harvard Business Review article, your scarcest resource is time. We believe every person is called to a specific mission in life, and we have a limited amount of time to accomplish this mission. For example, you may be called to be the best pediatric surgeon or perhaps the best stay-at-home mom to your children. Whatever your calling may be in life, we want to maximize it.
Intelligent Investing maximizes your life.
Trust
If you aren’t worried about your portfolio or retirement plan, you are less likely to turn on the television and see what’s happening in the markets. You won’t be spending time reading the latest “get rich scheme” email, because you understand reading it will take away minutes from what is most important.
Efficiency
Enjoy a simple, paperless onboarding process, so you don’t have to come back to the office because you forgot to sign one page. Have a virtual meeting from the comfort of your home if you can’t have a face-to-face meeting in our office. Log on to your client portal to see all your performance reports that we hold in the cloud, so you don’t have to worry about where you put your last quarterly statement. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our efficiency and will not rest in our pursuits, so you can.
Clear communication
We emphasize clear, concise, and direct communication to you and your family and attempt to improve the financial communication between spouses and families. When everyone is on the same page, there can be a sweetness in fellowship that impacts multiple generations.
