On April 5th, Derek Horton, a local banker from Southern First presented to the guests of Intelligent Investing on the advantages of working with a local banker. Southern First has approximately $1.9 billion in assets and established in Greenville in 1999. They have since expanded into Columbia, Charleston, Raleigh, Atlanta, Greensboro, and Summerville. Derek Horton Bio

Derek Horton is a Mortgage Executive with Southern First Bank. He and his team focus on creating an outstanding experience for each client looking to buy or build a home. With their client first model, the Southern First Mortgage team has been ranked among the highest in overall client satisfaction from year to year. Derek is actively involved in the community as the Chair of Opportunity Greenville and also is a member of the Downtown Rotary Club. He previously served from 2012-2017 as Commissioner of the Fire & Police Practices Commission for the City of Greenville. Derek enjoys traveling with his wife and exercising in his free time.
